Bubblepops pop up to Mill

Derby pop band for pre-school children, the Bubblepops, burst into the Mill Photo Studio for the photography for their new cd cover, to be released on 9 August 2010. Heading for stardom, the group are negotiating a Channel 5 tv series

Hybrid in tune with Mill

Derbyshire electro-dance band, Hybrid, found the Mill Studio the perfect venue to film the video for their new single, 'Can You Hear Me', now on general release
Soon at Glastonbury, then a Europe tour, the band rocked the Mill with energy
Delighted group leader, Mike Truman said, 'The studio is an ideal space for projects like ours'

Secrets unveiled for charity...

The studio was filmed by Channel Four, featuring in the prime-time tv series 'The Secret Millionaire'. The studio shoot shown is for a wickedly funny calendar, currently in production. It will be sold in support of the 'Lewis Mighty Fund', as part of a huge local community fund-raising effort in Derby. Learn more and donate at...

Q up... beautiful courses!

Our unique series of digital courses, photoQ, is starting in March on 16,17 and 18. The price is £95 for a day. The three day series will be repeated each month, on the middle Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each month.
The courses will be themed around beauty photography, although all techniques will be transferable to every genre of photography. Students will learn studio lighting techniques with a model, with effects filters, and wind and fog machines; how to manage work flow with Photoshop Bridge, raw processing, beauty retouching with Photoshop CS4; how to get the best from your printer, including printer colour profiling.
What more could you want? Other than possibly a hearty aga-cooked lunch? (included!) ... and the opportunity to buy me a drink afterwards at the historic Abbey pub in the village? (oh, ta very much... cheers!) n x

''Children in Need' Event

We were delighted to host a charity photography event for Derby Merlin Round Table, when about thirty members used the studio for their own photoshoot. Both I and Daisy were on hand to help with technical aspects of the studio and cameras.
Thanks for all the kind comments from the participants, with Chair Ralph Willis describing the event 'a great success with some fine image results'.
Here's a superb shot that the group took at the end, with some of them together. It was great to see so many people enjoying the studio facilities, especially with the knowledge that all the proceeds they raised are going to the charity 'Children in Need'. n :)

London 10k

'sme, Nigel, finishing the British London 10k in Whitehall on 12 July, in glorious sunshine! (thanks to whoever organised the weather) ok(-ish) chip time of 59min.
The proceeds from our recent open day at the photography studio are in sponsorship of the 10k run, to Rainbow Trust Children's Charity... so thank you to all who fought through the rain and came to the studio on Darley Abbey Day to take part!
We were delighted to meet so many new people. We've just sent a cheque of £200 on behalf of our sponsors to Rainbows :D

Open doors for charity

Thank you to all our visitors on Darley Abbey day who made the effort to struggle through the rain to come to the studio for our charity open day. Your interest was much appreciated.
Thank you to photographer Daisy for the energy she brought to the day. Between us we raised loads of money, which will be in part to Darley Abbey Day Charities and also part to my British 10k London Run in support of Rainbow Trust Children's Charity. Click below...
